Information emerged that the Pentagon justified the US-led missile strikes on Syria before the OPCW's conclusions also by "the fact that Damascus blocked" access of experts to Eastern Ghouta, Lavrov said Saturday.
US President Donald Trump announced the latest attacks on Syrian targets were in response to a recent suspected chemical weapons attack on Douma.
She described the strikes against Syria carried out by the United States, the United Kingdom and France as a new attempt to oust Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. If the OPCW knows, then the Americans know this too, the minister added.
"From a diplomatic point of view, this [missile strike on Syria] is, of course, a blow that was delivered on the geographical point on the map, but it is also a blow to the global law and the whole system of worldwide relations", Foreign Ministry's spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
The suspected poison gas attack in Douma, which killed more than 40 people, has drawn worldwide outrage and prompted the United States and its allies to consider a military strike on Syria, something Moscow has strongly warned against.
"All responsibility for them rests with Washington, London and Paris", he said in a statement, adding, "the worst apprehensions have come true".
Zakharova also accused the USA and other mainstream media of inciting the attack, noting that the White House's decision to launch a strike was based on media reports, photo and video shared on the Internet and spread online.
Anatoly Antonov, the Russian Ambassador to the United States, says the military action threatens Russia - and there will be consequences. "We warned that such actions will not be left without consequences", says a statement from Mr Antonov published on RT.
"Insulting the President of Russian Federation is unacceptable and inadmissible", he added.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also claimed that following Syrian rebels' withdrawal from the eastern Ghouta suburbs of Damascus, stockpiles of chemical agents were allegedly found there.
"Not one of the cruise missiles released by the U.S. and its allies entered the zone of responsibility of Russian air defences protecting facilities in Tartus and Hmeimim", the ministry said in a statement carried by the RIA Novosti state news agency, referring to the locations of Russia's naval and air bases.
