Michigan, Villanova Basketball Schedule National Championship Rematch For 2018

The Illini are 1-1 in the Gavitt Tipoff Games, losing during the inaugural year at Providence and beating DePaul last season. The NCAA Tournament teams are: Creighton, Michigan, Ohio State, Seton Hall, Villanova and Xavier. Palmer was fifth in the Big Ten in scoring at 17.2 points per game while adding 4.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game for the Big Red. Those three formed the core of a program that has made three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.

The Nittany Lions and Blue Demons were paired in the inaugural Gavitt Tipoff Games in 2015, with Penn State winning, 68-62, in the Bryce Jordan Center.

Georgetown went 15-15 last season with a 5-13 record in Big East play during former Hoyas great and NBA All-Star Patrick Ewing's first season as coach.

Watching Villanova pull off the epic run they did during last year's tournament by winning each game by double-digits, including the championship game against MI.

Villanova defeated MI, 79-62, in San Antonio to claim the 2017-18 national title.

Xavier beat the Badgers, 80-70, in the 2017 Gavitt Games in Madison.

Ohio State visits Creighton and Penn State is at DePaul on November 15.

The Gavitt Tipoff Games concludes with St. John's playing at Rutgers on Friday, Nov. 16. The series will span eight years, with games played at home sites.

The distinctive series between the two conferences is named to honor the late Gavitt, who had a profound and lasting influence on the sport of basketball at the collegiate, professional and Olympic levels. Each edition consists of eight games with a couple of teams from both conferences sitting out. The 2018-19 slate will also include 20 Big Ten games, as pairings were announced last month.
