It was one of a number of winning lottery ticekts sold in Northern Ontario, according to Ontario Lottery and Gaming.

A $1-million victor was also purchased in nearby Mississauga.

Six Maxmillions prizes, worth $500,000 each, were sold in the Brampton area, Richmond Hill, the Thunder Bay area, Sault Ste.

The winning ticket was sold in Whitty's Mace store in Caherdavin in the north of the city, a Lotto spokesperson has confirmed.

Ireland's newest millionaire isn't the only one with reason to celebrate, as two other players in Louth managed to scoop €106,121 each in last night's draw.

The British Columbia Lottery Corporation has officially paid out the province's largest Lotto 6/49 jackpot ever won.

Odds of winning a Lotto Max jackpot or Maxmillion prize are one in 28,633,528 per play.

There are even more chances for lottery players to win big this weekend.

Players can purchase tickets at authorized OLG retailers or buy online at PlayOLG.ca until 10:30 p.m. ET on Friday, June 8, 2018 for the draw that evening.
