Both Ms Trump and Mr Kushner stepped back from day-to-day roles in their various companies to join the president's team, and Mr Kushner, a real estate developer, divested some commercial holdings.

Kushner's income, for instance, included more than US$6 million from Quail Ridge, a Plainsboro, New Jersey, apartment complex the Kushner company, now run by his relatives, acquired a year ago.

She reported a stake in the Trump International Hotel in Washington, DC, worth between $5 million and $25 million. The money Trump receives from limited liability companies associated with the Trump Organization has been restructured into annual fixed payments of $1.5 million, "a change made in consultation with Office of Government Ethics officials to reduce her "interest in the performance of the business" according to the Post.

Her father was inaugurated on January 20, 2017, and Ivanka Trump officially joined the White House as an unpaid senior adviser in March 2017, after her initial attempts to serve as an informal adviser raised ethics questions. Trump also received a $289,300 book advance and $747,622 from three companies tied to the Trump Organization's global projects.

It is hard to determine the couple's precise income a year ago because the financial disclosures list assets, income and liability in broad ranges only.

A series of interim financial reports past year showed that Kushner had increased lines of credit with Bank of America, New York Community Bank, and Signature Bank, each from at least $1 million to $5 million.

Ivanka Trump also reported over $2 million from severance from the Trump Corp.in 2017.

The new disclosure shows that Kushner did take on a new debt a year ago with Bank of America, worth between $5 million and $25 million - but jointly with other investors in Quail Ridge LLC, a company used for his family firm's purchase of Quail Ridge, a 1,032-unit apartment community in Plainsboro, NJ, near Princeton.

Peter Mirijanian, a spokesman for the couple's ethics lawyer Abbe Lowell, said Trump and Kushner are abiding by government ethics rules.

The White House released the financial disclosures for Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner Monday as President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un met in a highly anticipated summit in Singapore.
