Courtney Hadwin gets Golden Buzzer from Howie on America’s Got Talent 2018

Tuesday night, Sophie Fatu made her way to the stage of "America's Got Talent".

Courtney, from Hesleden, auditioned in front of stars Simon Cowell, Mel B, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel, blowing them away with her powerful voice.

"She is really shy", her father says at her audition for America's Got Talent.

Launching into Otis Redding's 'Hard to Handle', Courtney left the judges and everyone in the crowd completely speechless - jaws basically dropped everywhere. "And then you sing and you're like a lion", Cowell told her.

In her performance Tuesday, she wowed the judges with her rendition of Frank Sinatra's "My Way". "I mean, genuinely, incredible". "I'm a huge Janis Joplin fan".

She first went viral when a video of her singing at her school lunchtime open mic session got loads of views on YouTube. While Howie couldn't give Courtney a record deal, he did hit the golden buzzer meaning she will go straight to the live show rounds.

"I'm not Clive Davis, I'm Howie Mandel".

America's Got Talent is an American reality television series aired on NBC, and part of the global Got Talent franchise. "The only thing I can do for you, young lady, is..."

However, when it came time to actually audition, no one was expecting the kind of performance the shy teenage "AGT" hopeful was going to pull out.

Courtney said getting the golden buzzer was more than she "could have dreamed".

And the young talent is no stranger to the limelight of TV, having already stared in the ITV's The Voice Kids a year ago.
