Prince Louis christening: Queen and Duke of Edinburgh to miss event

The youngest child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton was christened at Chapel Royal in St. James' Palace.

Prince Louis will wear the same christening gown used for the ceremonies of his 5-year-old brother George and 3-year-old sister Charlotte, Buckingham Palace said.

The Prince, just 11 weeks old, was "very relaxed and peaceful", his mother said, as she told the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Rev Justin Welby: "I hope he stays like this".

It was the first time Meghan has attended a royal family event like this, having become an aunt to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis in May.

Other guests will include Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Pippa Middleton and James Middleton.

Kate also remained loyal to her classic look, wearing an elegant McQueen dress once again for the occasion.

The new Royal Baby was born on April 23, and today, his parents announced who will act as godparents.

In addition to the cake, Prince Louis's christening gown was also recycled.

The decision of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh not to attend the service at the Chapel Royal, St James's Palace, was revealed a few hours before the ceremony.
