Sky Sports reported recently that Riyad Mahrez will travel to Manchester for a medical after Leicester accepted a bid believed to be in the region of £60 million after much speculation over his future.
Several months later Mahrez is closing in on a deal, after Leicester and City are about to agree a deal around 65 million. The Algerian winger looked to be on his way to the Etihad in January, but last minute demands by Leicester City collapsed the deal.
The manager remains in pole position to prise Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City, though an agreement between the clubs is yet to be agreed.
However the closest he has come to leaving was back in January, when he submitted a transfer request in order to try force a move to Manchester City.
He has been given extra time off by the Foxes after playing in Algeria's worldwide games in June and is due back for training next week. That is fast approaching, with the winger due to return to the East Midlands next week after the club extended his holiday following recent internationals played by the north Africans.
Regardless of being at odds with the Foxes, Mahrez managed to score 13 goals in 41 appearances last season and Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola feels that he is the missing cog in his team.
