First-year comedies had the best showing in the comedy series category in nearly two decades, with three nominees, Amazon/Prime Video'sThe Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, HBO's Barry, and Netflix's GLOW.

In the best drama series category, there's a decent chance the award goes to a show written by someone Jewish. The streaming service led the nominations in totals by platform with 112.

Every year, there are some surprising oversights. The Rock's Ballers on HBO was nominated for Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series.

From HBO hits like "Game of Thrones", "Barry", and "Westworld" to FX's "Atlanta" to Netflix's "Glow", a wide range of shows garnered nominations this year. Only one acting category, supporting actor in a drama series, had all-white nominees.
