Everton have signed Barcelona's Colombia defender Yerry Mina, 23, for 30.25m euros (£27.19m) along with Mina's team-mate Andre Gomes on a season-long loan. However after the initial loan Southampton will have an obligation to buy the Englishman for £20 million.
"The English club will pay FC Barcelona 2.25 million euros for the season-long loan and will also pay the player's wages".
Portugal global Gomes endured even greater struggles at LaLiga's champions and has found an escape route in the shape of a season-long loan at Goodison Park, which will cost the Toffees €2.25million.
They would have to conclude an agreement with Manchester United and rush Rojo through a medical, with Everton retaining an option to submit a deal sheet to the Premier League to earn more time to complete the transfer.
Mina already had a point to prove after a disappointing few months at Barcelona, and doubters like Thompson should gee him up further to be a big Everton success.
Linked to the likes of Chelsea throughout the summer, Brazilian Bernard admitted a conversation with Marco Silva persuaded him to move to Everton.
Likewise, Portuguese worldwide Gomes has failed to establish himself as a first team regular since joining from Valencia for an initial 35 million euro fee in 2016. "I am also determined to do my best for Everton".
He only joined Barcelona in January for £10.44m from Brazilian side Palmeiras, and played six league and cup games as Barca were crowned 2017-18 La Liga champions.
"I spoke to Lucas (Digne) and he told me all about the Club, which also made me keen to come here".
