The on-again, off-again boyfriend of Bethenny Frankel - Real Housewives of NY star and founder of Skinnygirl Cocktails was found dead Friday in his apartment in Trump Tower.

Frankel previously described her relationship with Shields as "a little bit like business" while appearing on Steve Harvey's daytime talk show. Shields reportedly died moments later. News that police were called to Shields' apartment on Friday morning and discovered him unconscious.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Shields' assistant had tried to give him Narcan to revive him but the effort was unsuccessful. TMZ sources say that the cause of death is thought to be an Oxycodone overdose.

On Friday, the finance exec was found dead at his Trump Tower apartment.

"We are all heartbroken", Shields' estranged wife, Jill Shields, said in a statement. According to reports, they were still together as of March of this year. She explained that if they weren't "being teammates and it's not working, and one man is down, then the other man is down".

Authorities are investigating the suspected overdose death at Trump Tower of a man romantically linked to reality TV personality Bethenny Frankel. "His spirit lives on in our children". Shields, the CEO of the company LawCash, previously dated and later married Frankel's friend from high school.

"I have a daughter, I had a very hard divorce - I'm not legally divorced yet", Frankel added, referring to both her ex-husband Jason Hoppy and the former couple's 8-year-old daughter Bryn. "We ask that the media respect out privacy during this time of loss". If both people aren't happy about it but slightly uncomfortable and giving up something or giving in (to) something, it doesn't work.

Representatives for Frankel did not immediately respond to USA TODAY's request for comment.
