Manchester United turned down chance to sign Harry Maguire for £15 million

Manchester United target Harry Maguire will not be moving Old Trafford in the January transfer window, according to the Leicester City defender's teammate Ben Chilwell.

Maguire will be in the Leicester squad for tomorrow's Premier League opener at United and Puel joked: "I can confirm he is going..."

After a week of full training, Maguire and Vardy are in Puel's thoughts, but the Frenchman confirmed on Thursday morning that a decision would be made following City's afternoon session. Sometimes things don't go the way you want, but it is looking good this season.

"We all know what Harry is capable of, we all know how good he is". We want to keep good ambition.

"Harry, he's happy also to remain with us". Of course I am happy about his performance and the performance of the other players.

"Sometimes we were unlucky with the possibilities to score in different moves. It would have been a good reward for our play".

It is believed that Leicester now value Maguire at £75 million, a fee that United board were (understandably) unwilling to meet. He played with consistency and good progress, was strong in his defensive aspect and with quality to start with the ball.

LEICESTER signed two more defenders yesterday - Caglar Soyuncu and Filip Benkovic - despite keeping hold of Harry Maguire.

One of the Three Lions' standout performers at the World Cup, the 25-year-old was strongly linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium just a year after arriving from Hull.

He becomes the sixth new arrival of the summer following the acquisitions of Ricardo Pereira, Jonny Evans, James Maddison, Danny Ward and Rachid Ghezzal. I'm happy about with his attitude in general, he has good mentality and good spirit.
