In "Fear", Woodward claims Trump accused Christie of "stealing" from him while he was assisting on the presidential campaign trail, notes The Hill.

'At the same time, I think I'm able to compartmentalize it.

In another, Woodward recounts how White House Chief of Staff John Kelly frequently became angry and told colleagues that he thought the President was "unhinged".

Stelter also confirmed and said Woodward has written books about pretty much every presidency and he has an enormous amount of credibility because he has written a total of eighteen books. Trump has called for the newspaper to turn over the name and says the US Justice Department should investigate.

Woodward says: 'The first is not knowing. While the president expressed annoyance that Barack Obama was taking credit for the nation's economic success, he told one adviser that the former president's increased visibility would give Trump more chances to attack a figure who remained very unpopular with his base.

"Fear: Trump in the White House" hits USA bookstores on Tuesday after a weeklong buildup, with published excerpts, leaks and interviews that portray Mr Trump as dangerously erratic and uninformed.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders speaks during the daily press briefing at the White House, Sept. 10, 2018, in Washington.

"You don't get to do it that way", Cohn said, according to Woodward.

The highly anticipated book, which chronicles some unflattering moments in the Trump administration, has been sourced from numerous current and former officials.

Cohn on Tuesday pushed back on the Woodward book.

Trump, meanwhile, has dismissed the book as a "scam" filled with "made up" quotes. "This is the worst job I've ever had".

"I stole it off his desk", Woodward quoted Cohn as later telling an associate.

"A third of my job was trying to react to some of the really unsafe ideas that he had and try to give him reasons to believe that maybe they weren't such good ideas", Porter told an associate, according to the book.

"Well, you shouldn't be talking about that right now because it doesn't matter. I am proud of my service in the Trump Administration, and I continue to support the President and his economic agenda". As recently as Monday morning, Trump called out the use of anonymous sources on Twitter, accusing Woodward of being "a liar who is like a Dem operative prior to the Midterms". Woodward recounts how Trump enquired about THAAD-America's anti-ballistic missile defense system that shoots down incoming missiles-which has been deployed South Korea to deal with a North Korean threat.
