Unai Emery defends relationship with Mesut Ozil

Ozil was left out of the Arsenal squad which faced West Ham last month and reports claimed he had been dropped after being told by Emery that he would be on the bench.

Ozil appears to be carrying a hangover from the 2018 World Cup which resulted in him quitting the Germany national team citing racism and discrimination.

"I want to find with him the possibility to do the best, to make decisive passes, to do more near and in the box to score", the manager said.

"In his career, he played like a No. 10 and on the right coming in with his quality", Emery said.

Arsenal has provided injury update on some of their players ahead of their Premier League clash with Newcastle United on Saturday.

He started the opening two matches of Emery's first campaign at the Emirates, but ESPN reported that he was left out against the Hammers after arguing with the Spaniard and walking out of training. "I push him for improvements to give us the best in his qualities and performances".

'Mesut, like other players, works very well here. I look at him with the focus totally here.

Chief executive Ivan Gazidis' future looks less certain, though, with AC Milan having re-opened negotiations with him.

Emery insists he has had no talks about Gazidis leaving. The 53-year-old was behind the appointment of Emery and also brought in Raul Sanllehi as head of football relations and Sven Mislintat as head of recruitment.

"Our aim away at Newcastle on Saturday is to keep improving things and continue to create our idea, build up our spirit on the pitch, individually and collectively, and it is clear this process is one process".

First, I knew Nacho Monreal in Spain when he was playing in Osasuna and in Malaga.
