Arsenal Star Takes To Social Media In Lead Up to Newcastle Clash

Arsenal manager Unai Emery believes Saturday's trip to Newcastle United will be a "difficult" test ahead of his first visit to St James's Park.

"I am very happy with him because he is 32 years old but I think physically, with his performances with us in matches, he is playing with a very good level".

Arsenal were without a number of key players for the 3-2 victory over Cardiff City two weeks ago and now, the club has provided an update on the fitness situation.

Ozil's retirement from global football came after he made claims of racism from the German football association.

Newcastle United forward Salomon Rondon and defender DeAndre Yedlin could be rested after their late return from global duty. But Emery is hoping the extra rest and training sessions during the global break - the first since Ozil announced his retirement from Germany - will help the star midfielder find his feet again.

"For me, it is a new moment, for us and for every player", Emery said at a news conference, as quoted by FourFourTwo.

Emery confirmed Arsenal are keen to extend Nacho Monreal's stay at the Emirates Stadium.

Granit Xhaka continues to split opinion among the fans as while he's so important to our build-up play, he is a liability when we're not in possession.

Chief executive Ivan Gazidis' future looks less certain, though, with AC Milan having re-opened negotiations with him.

Emery insists he has had no talks about Gazidis leaving. "I don't know any other news from him".
