Volkswagen to shed 30000 jobs, cutting costs after scandal

Just last month, the vehicle maker agreed a $14.7 billion (£11.8 billion) class action settlement in the US. VW admitted in September 2015 that 11m diesel cars had been fitted with software that cheated emissions tests. Although that majority of that savings will help VW to offset losses from its emissions cheating scandal, the company will also use some of it to invest in electric vehicles and ride-sharing programs.
