The company did not give any reasons for the decision, adding that a panel had been set up to choose a new chairman over the course of the next four months. The Irish-Indian businessman became the sixth chairman of the group and the second who did not have the name of Tata, after Nowroji Saklatwala. However, Mistry was not very welcoming of the opinions voiced by Tata and did not act on them.
