BAE Systems discloses Reaction Engines investment

Reaction Engines says its rocket/jet hybrid technology "will enable aircraft to operate easily at speeds of up to five times the speed of sound" - or more than 3,800 miles per hour at some altitudes. The partnership between the two firms is to speed up the development of the air-breathing rocket engine, which has already had independent technical assessments that have confirmed its viability and potential vehicle applications.
