MINI CAMP
Many NFL mini camps begin in May and go through June.
Former Chargers safety Terrence Kiel was killed after he was thrown from a Chevy sedan he was driving, police said Saturday.
Kiel, 27, was driving alone after leaving a party at about 10:15 Friday night when he hit a wall in San Diego's upscale Scripps Ranch neighborhood and was thrown from the car, police Sgt. Alan Hayward said.
Last season proved to be supremely frustrating at times for Lee Evans. Though he never showed it outwardly, Evans was hoping to build on his 1,200-yard plus receiving season of 2006. Instead he saw the clamps put on him by opposing defenses each and every week in 2007 as no other receiver in Buffalo's offense was utilized effectively enough to pull defensive attention away from Evans.
James Hardy apparently either shrunk or has gotten into the habit of slouching: The rookie wide receiver is listed as 6-foot-5 by his new team, the Buffalo Bills, 6-6 within his NFL draft prospect profile, and 6-7 in his Indiana University basketball biography.
He was the featured back in Buffalo's offense as a rookie, and Marshawn Lynch had a very productive first NFL season. Despite missing three games with a high ankle sprain Lynch rolled up 1,115 rushing yards and scored a team-leading seven touchdowns. His most surprising stats however, were on the receiving end, where he had just 18 receptions.
So it only makes sense that the Toronto Raptors would want to bring some NBA games to Buffalo to show their gratitude for the fact Buffalo will be loaning T-O the Bills for a few games, right?
The Chicago Bears agreed to a four-year deal with second-round draft pick Matt Forte, the former Tulane running back expected to replace Cedric Benson in the lineup.
When Ko Simpson walked out onto the turf in the Bills Fieldhouse in May he was apprehensive. Testing his surgically repaired ankle was going to be easier said than done. He had just finished eight months of rehab and training. He didn't want to blow it in a matter of seconds. But his teammates convinced him it was time.
I'm not sure with whom I'm more disappointed, the author of this editorial, (Buffalo News article) or the Buffalo News for publishing it so hastily. I will give the author a break and chalk up his shortsightedness to his age and inexperience. Mr. Wagner's article rushes to judgment on more than one occasion and does nothing but tarnish the image of a man who has had ONE run in with the law. To accuse Marshawn Lynch of resembling Willis McGahee in any capacity other than they're both football players, is outrageous and unjust. Mr. Gardner attacks Lynch for " hiding behind his lawyers and the Fifth Amendment ". Lawyers and the Bill of Rights are things you don't "hide behind".
Buffalo, we have a problem. No, the Bills are not moving to Toronto in the near future. In all likelihood, a major contributing factor to whatever success the Buffalo Bills will have this upcoming season will be due to the performance of running back Marshawn Lynch, who pleaded guilty to a traffic violation Friday.
