The National Hurricane Center's latest briefing said its maximum sustained winds have increased to almost 85 miles per hour with higher gusts. Tropical Storm Chris is now tracking the East Coast of the United States and is set to cross the Atlantic to the UK.

Starbucks' newly designed strawless lid will be used for all iced coffee, tea and espresso beverages. Engineers successfully developed a "cleaner, less-ridged version of a hot cup lid", and decided to make it the standard for all iced drinks except the Frappuccino, totally phasing out straws by the year 2020.

Tropical Storm Chris continues to spin just off the North Carolina coast and is now centered roughly 150 miles to the south of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. It is forecast to bring tropical storm conditions to Dominica and Guadeloupe tonight and strong gusty winds in the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico tomorrow.

The next hurricane advisory is scheduled for 5 p.m. Sunday. At noon today, Chris was 594 miles west of Bermuda, with winds of about 46mph and higher gusts. No coastal watches or warnings are in effect, but forecasters say swells along the coasts of North Carolina and the mid-Atlantic states could produce unsafe surf and rip current conditions.
