Virgo Joins LIGO in Detection of Gravitational Waves

It has detected gravitational waves for the fourth time, researchers announced Wednesday. During its violent birth, the equivalent of three solar masses was converted into gravitational wave energy. "Black holes are dead remnants of the largest stars". This was the first time in history such a wave was detected on two different continents . The August collision involved a black hole with a mass of about 31 times that of the Sun, and another with 25 solar masses.
