Transfer Window reform: Premier League giants ponder next move
For the Premier League and EFL, Fifa regulations state the transfer window should close no later than 1 September, or as near as practical if it clashes with a weekend. If the transfer window closes at the end of the season, that could put English teams at a major disadvantage in comparison to other top European teams because Liverpool would have to go over four months without being able to use that infusion of funds to replace their star midfielder.
