Some of the 29 people taken to hospital are said to have serious injuries. At least nine other people were injured in the attack in the city of Karak. Police said the gunmen had arrived from the desert town of Qatraneh almost 30 km northeast of Karak city, a desert outpost known for smuggling, where many tribal residents are heavily armed.
