The explosion occurred in the morning near Zanbaq Square close to the embassies of Germany, Turkey and Japan. Earlier this month , eight people were killed in a suicide bomb attack on a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation convoy. Afghan officials say 80 people died and 350 were wounded in the attack. "The US Embassy does not appear to have been the target of the blast", a spokesperson said, and referred questions on casualties to the Afghanistan government.
