US lawmaker Scalise improving after baseball field shooting

Scalise was fielding ground balls at second base Wednesday when he was shot at a practice for the annual Republicans-Democrats baseball game. Also hurt, but released from hospital, were two Capitol Police officers David Bailey and Crystal Griner , and House GOP aide Zack Barth.

The House's No. 3 GOP leader underwent his third surgery Thursday. The first procedure done on Scalise was to address the bleeding, and during that procedure he received "many units of transfused blood", he said. He declined to make definitive statements about Scalise's prognosis, but did say he expects the Congressman to be able to walk and possibly even run again.

He also said Comey should have shared his concerns about the Trump conversation with another Justice Department official, Dana Boente, who was then acting deputy attorney general, and would have been Comey's direct supervisor. Mr Comey, who had been leading one of several Russian Federation inquiries, testified to Congress last week that Mr Trump had pressurised him to drop the investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.



Trump Under Investigation For Possible "Obstruction Of Justice"

Onlookers have assumed that any obstruction was meant to prevent evidence of "collusion" or Russian infiltration of Trump's campaign from surfacing. They will also seek information from retired NSA Deputy Director Richard Ledgett , the source said , because Ledgett wrote a memo documenting some of Rogers' conversations with Trump.
