Chinese Nobel Peace laureate Liu Xiaobo released from prison on medical grounds

It is unclear whether Liu's wife Liu Xia , who has been under long-term house arrest , has been able to meet with her husband since his release on medical parole. Previously, Liu had spent decades as one of the most vocal critics of the Chinese government , being arrested multiple times, including in the aftermath of the 1989 Tiananmen crackdown.
