The eight islands were chosen for evacuation because of expected storm surge of up to six feet when Irma passes by SC on Monday, the governor said at a news briefing shortly before 8 p.m. Earlier in the day, McMaster lifted the mandatory evacuation order for health care facilities, including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, alcohol and substance abuse hospitals and other medical facilities in Dorchester, Charleston, Berkley, Georgetown and Horry counties.
