Global monitors for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe reported a series of irregularities, including more than a million ballots cast without the particular stamp that marks them as official. "Turkey's creeping authoritarianism continues", Rep. Ed Royce (R-Calif.) said on Tuesday. The stamps were required to avoid "ballot-stuffing" - where extra votes are cast illegally to manipulate results - and unstamped ballots had been dismissed as invalid in earlier votes.
