Projections show Macron elected French President

Macron stepped down from the chairmanship of the movement on Thursday and 68-year-old former Socialist government adviser Catherine Barbaroux was named as interim president. She congratulated Macron for winning the election, and wished him success in facing "immense coming challenges". Le Pen responded to the defeat by vowing she would lead her anti-immigration National Front (FN) strongly in the legislative elections.

The Washington Post reports that Trump made his comments after the reasons he gave for firing FBI Director James Comey during an NBC interview on Thursday were directly contradicted by statements made by others in the White House including Vice President Mike Pence, meaning the various explanations were at best misleading, and at worst, flat out lies.
