Trump opens first presidential trip abroad in Saudi Arabia

Trump - whose face, alongside a picture of King Salman, was displayed on billboards across the city in anticipation of his arrival, under the slogan "Together We Prevail" - received a red carpet reception at the airport, where Saudi air force armed with rifles stood at attention awaiting Air Force One.

Even his hand gestures may draw scrutiny in the Middle East, where the thumbs-up sign, a Trump trademark, is considered taboo.

The White House was rocked by another bombshell when reports emerged that Trump said his firing of "nut job" Comey had relieved "great pressure" on him due to the investigation. Saudi's ruling family grew deeply frustrated with Obama's detente with Iran and his restrained approach on Syria.

Shortly afterward, the pageantry continued inside the Saudi Royal Court, where Salman presented Trump with a gilded necklace and medal, the country's highest honor.

Ahead of Trump's trip, the White House said the president expected tangible results from Saudi Arabia in countering Islamic extremism.

Do these pictures prove Melania Trump is MISERABLE?

The king did not greet Obama at the airport when he visited a year ago.

"For them, Donald Trump is a very understandable and relatable individual", Feierstein said.

In a sweetener for Saudi Arabia, U.S. officials said the Trump administration planned to announce $110 billion in advanced military equipment sales and training to the kingdom.

Middle East expert Ilan Goldenberg, is just back from a trip to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, which included meetings with high-level government officials.

When women from Western nations visit Saudi Arabia, they typically forgo a head covering.

Trump and his motorcade then made their way to his hotel for a few hours of downtime before beginning the day's meetings.

The clips have gone viral, now a friend has stated that the First Lady isn't happy in her new life.

During the Obamas' visit, Trump tweeted, "Many people are saying it was wonderful that Mrs. Obama refusing to wear a scarf in Saudi Arabia, but they were insulted".

While his predecessor Barack Obama was viewed with suspicion by Gulf Arab states for his tilt towards their regional rival Iran, Trump is likely to take a harder line against Tehran. The package includes tanks, combat ships, missile defense systems, radar and communications and cybersecurity technology.

One of those critical of her move: Donald Trump.

Trump will deliver a major speech Sunday to the leaders of more than two dozen Muslim nations where he'll urge countries to drive out extremists.

"I will be visiting with the leaders in many different countries to strengthen our old friendships, build new partnerships, and unite the civilised world in a fight against terrorism".

The White House said this is not a final draft and it could change leading up to Sunday's speech.

Administration officials believe Trump's decision to begin his trip in Saudi Arabia sends a powerful message to the kingdom: the strained ties that marked U.S. -Saudi relations under Obama are over. The draft notably refrains from mentioning democracy and human rights - topics Arab leaders often view as USA moralizing - in favor of the more limited goals of peace and stability.

The draft also abandons some of the harsh anti-Muslim rhetoric that defined Trump's presidential campaign and does not contain the words "radical Islamic terror", a phrase Trump repeatedly criticized Hillary Clinton for not using during last year's campaign.
