Beyonce and Jay Z welcome twins; gender of the babies revealed

Beyonce and husband Jay Z have reportedly welcomed the much-anticipated additions to their family.

A "minor issue" arose following the twins' birth on Monday, June 12, TMZ reports, resulting in an extended hospital stay at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles for Beyoncé and her newborn son and daughter.

Beyoncé gave birth to twins sometime in the last week, a source close to the couple told CNN.

One of those reports was granddad himself, Matthew Knowles, who blasted the news on Twitter with a Father's Day post reading "They're here!" and "Happy Birthday to the twins!"

"They're here!" Knowles tweeted, along with the hashtags #beyonce #twins #jayz #happybirthday, but some of Beyoncé's fans responded that he should have waited to tweet until Bey herself had made her announcement.

Multiple sources also confirmed the happy news to Us Weekly.

"We would like to share our love and happiness", Beyonce captioned the stunning shot, which caught fans by surprise. The newest members will join their sister Blue Ivy, who is now five years old.

The Inquisitr reported that Beyonce celebrated her baby shower bash at her Beverly Hills home on Saturday, May 20.

This is one of those times when we wish stars weren't just like us. On Father's Day, Jay Z not only penned an op-ed for Time about the for-profit bail bond industry, but pledged to give money to those organizations that help bail out men now being held on bail.

She later announced her withdrawal on doctor's orders from April's Coachella Music Festival where she was billed to perform.

Later Obama sent Jay Z a video message - in which he may have let slip the twins' gender.
