Arsenal must 'let go' of talisman Alexis Sanchez amid Manchester City interest

Sanchez and Germany centre-back Shkodran Mustafi are poised to return to the club at the weekend, but the duo will not take part in Arsenal's pre-season fixtures against Benfica and Sevilla in the Emirates Cup.

However, Sanchez has posted a couple of frankly pathetic "sickie" selfies on Instagram, claiming he's not well enough to return to the Arsenal fold yet...

Alexis may be a damn fine player, but he's proving himself an absolute wimp of a man.

Sanchez's apparent stalling on signing a new deal, coupled with comments to the Chilean press earlier this month have stoked further speculation about his immediate future.

Sanchez's future was plunged into fresh doubt on Friday (28 July) after he claimed to be sick on social media just a day after Arsene Wenger said the Chile worldwide was expected to report back for pre-season training this weekend.

"They are practising on the day, yes".

The Arsenal star has been linked with a potential move to their Premier League title rivals Chelsea and Manchester City in recent months. First of all you make a really good check up of where they are, how much they have worked during their break.

"Of course it depends as well on what is the need in the squad, what is their quality".

Claudio Bravo says Manchester City are ready to welcome Alexis Sanchez to the club with "open arms" should he manage to agitate his way out of Arsenal this summer.

Sanchez hit 30 goals for the Gunners last season but cut a frustrated figure during a torrid run of results that saw the club fall out of the Premier League top four and humiliated in the Champions League as they lost 10-2 on aggregate to Bayern.
