ASUS goes dual-camera insane for its ZenFone 4 series

While we all are expecting the company to announce something about the Zenfone 4 devices, Asus launched the ZenFone Zoom S smartphone today in India. The Zenfone Zoom S will be exclusively sold through Flipkart in India.

Pick the regular ZenFone 4 for wide-angle shots, the 4 Pro for sharper zoomed pics.
The main attraction of the smartphone is the dual rear camera setup of the features a dual camera setup at the back with the 2.3X optical zoom which is the highest optical zoom ever on a smartphone camera. The smartphone runs on Zen UI 3.0 atop Android 6.0, which is upgradeable to Android 7.0 Nougat. Both the smartphones feature two front-facing cameras. It is to be powered by a Snapdragon 625 platform with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. One module is a SONY IMX362 sensor with an f/1.7-aperture, 25mm wide-angle main lens and another Samsung 3M3 with optical zoom 2.3x, f/2.6 aperture and a focal length of 59mm.

But while the number of devices may seem a tad overwhelming, each of the series has its own objective: the ZenFone 4 and 4 Pro are the "mainstream" devices, the Selfie and Selfie Pro are mid-rangers with a focus on the front camera, and the Max and Max Pro are mid-to-low-end phones with a large battery capacity. Like we mentioned before, the device has a mighty 5,000 mAh battery which can also act as a handy power bank for auxiliary devices.

The front camera is fitted with a Asus 13 megapixel Sony IMX214 SuperPixel Camera which allows people to shoot at night-time and in low-light situations. This optical zoom is greater than the iPhone 7 Plus which features a 2x zoom. ASUS's premium model steps the specs up to a Snapdragon 835 processor, with a glossy finish around the metal frame, and a larger 3,600mAh battery.

The Pro comes equipped with an impressive-sounding 24 MP camera on the front (though the sensor is technically a 12 MP one), which also has the ability to take wide-angle selfies Asus likes calling "wefies" for some reason. While the ZenFone 4 Selfie family sports dual front cameras, the ZenFone 4 family sports dual rear cameras. The company claims that this battery can enable 6.4 hours of 4K recording or 42 days of standby time. The display also has Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The smartphone also features a fingerprint sensor on the back.

The Asus ZenFone 4 will be available in Moonlight White, Mint Green, and Midnight Black colours, while the ZenFone 4 Pro will be available in Moonlight White, Pure Black colour variants. The phone is all 170 grams and as thin as 7.99mm.
