Mexico quake: Salma Hayek pledges $100K to disaster relief

Salma Hayek's fundraising efforts for the victims of Mexico's recent disasters were approaching the $300,000 mark today, a day after the actress-producer launched the Crowdrise project for Unicef.

Salma went on: 'Many children and families are hurt and in awful need. I'm contributing $100,000 right now to support UNICEF's relief efforts which has teams on the ground responding.

In the video itself, the Oscar-nominated star recalled one of the biggest earthquakes to have struck Mexico previously in 1985 and her experience of getting evacuated from the building. She also revealed that she has survived a previous natural disaster. "A lot of friends died, including an uncle that was very, very close to me", said Hayek.
