Students of Osmania University in Hyderabad staged protest after one of their batchmates committed suicide on campus on Sunday.
After learning about Murali's death, a large number of students gathered near the hostel. "Therefore, I have made a decision to end my life", Murali wrote in his suicide note, according to The Times of India report.
A suicide note purportedly written by Murali was found at the scene.
A suicide note recovered from the spot stated he feared failing in exam and was hence committing suicide.
The note read that he had never failed in any examination. Members of the Unemployment Joint Action Committee called a shutdown of OU campus on Monday.
On Monday, about a hundred protesting students were picked up from the campus premises and taken away by the Telangana Police. The Times of India report added that unemployement was cited as a reason for the suicide by the student leaders. "The state government must announce compensation to Murali's family and also cater to the needs of unemployed youth who have been waiting for job notification for the past three years", said Ayappa, Telangana secretary of ABVP.
ACP J Narsiah told Deccan Chronicle, "We gave them permission to give condolences to the 21-year-old student and not to make a fuss". TJAC chairman Kodandaram alleged that the state government's failure in keeping the promise to provide jobs has led to frustration among youth and students. The students alleged that Murali was anxious that the government would not keep its word to fill vacancies.
