Praise the sun and prepare to die, because From Software is remastering the original Dark Souls for a re-release on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. It's finally happening, and it is certainly glorious. This will be the first time that the franchise sees a release on a Nintendo platform. "We are excited to watch the thriving DARK SOULS community grow and support new players experiencing the title for the first time". Here's a few more confirmed or rumoured to be coming to the console in 2018 and beyond. While the trailer doesn't show any gameplay, players can expect updates graphics, improved frame rates, and better resolution. The company revealed that not only is a remastered version of Dark Souls in the works, but that it will actually be getting a release on Switch. The new Dark Souls remaster will include dynamic 4K resolution support on PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, and PC, and will presumably feature upgraded textures and lighting. Keep an eye out for more news soon. From Software also announced a special edition for the Japanese version of the game.
Dark Souls Remastered is scheduled to launch on May 25, giving everyone a chance to return to the lands of Lordran as the Chosen Undead. Dark Souls' brilliant boss fights, incredible combat system, punishing difficulty, learn by doing design, and intricate worlds made it a revolution in game design that is often cited by modern developers as a turning point in the industry.
