Wildlife officials have set up bear traps in a Naples neighborhood after a Milwaukee native was attacked and injured by a bear Wednesday.
He soon realized there was a four-foot tall bear standing next to him! It was just as scary as you can imagine'.
"It felt like somebody punch me", he said.
"That's run through my head, what if it was bad and she came downstairs wondering where I was and there I was laying...yeah it's scary", said Meunier. "It wasnt until I got back inside, looked down at my hand, and saw blood all over".
He says his 7-year-old daughter was asleep inside their apartment, and all he could think about was staying alive.
"Truthfully, I'm not sure how I got out alive", Meunier said.
Meunier was treated at a local hospital for cuts on his head and chest.
Adding, 'It could've been a totally different story'. 'And like I said, she's had three cubs around with her'. Doughnuts have been placed in the traps because it's candies that attract the bears.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC) has placed donut traps around the area hoping to lure the bear.
Andree Meunier was attacked by a bear outside his Naples apartment.
He said he's seen bears in the area before, but Meunier is the first reported person ever to be attacked by a bear in South Florida.
