The new model is built on the 5th generation "HEARTECT" platform that gives more strength and rigidity and improves the power to weight ratio. Maruti Suzuki will launch the new Swift at the Auto Expo 2018 which is scheduled to take place from February 7, 2018. The luggage space increases by 58 litres, around 28% more than the second generation Swift. However, bookings for the new version have been started from today (January 18) onwards with an initial payment of Rs 11,000 at over 2,300 Maruti dealerships across the country. The new generation, then, has big shoes to fill in and Maruti Suzuki isn't holding out on making this one a cracker of a vehicle. "In its newest avatar, the Swift undergoes a bold transformation to meet the aspiration of the young and ever-changing customer".

Maruti Suzuki has officially revealed details of the India-spec new Swift.

The all-new Swift will be available with the trusted K12 VVT engine and DDiS 190 engine. The lighter platform and the increased use of high tensile steel is said to have helped improve the power-to-weight ratio and also enables it to deliver quicker acceleration - up almost ten per cent in both powertrain options.

"The all-new Swift with its distinctive design, advanced technology, uplifting performance and enduring driver experience will bring disruption in the premium hatchback segment", Kalsi added. The new platform offers a longer wheelbase and wider track, providing the auto with more cabin as well as boot space than before.

On the exterior, the 2018 Swift gets new headlamps with LED projectors and DRLs, similar to the current Dzire.

On the interior front, the Swift gets a new console, a new touchscreen infotainment system which is compatible with Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, and new controls. The transmissions on offer are the five-speed manual and, for the first time in the Swift, the AGS (auto gear shift), Maruti's version of the automated gearbox is also being offered in two variants each of the petrol and diesel powertrains.

The all-new Swift is more aerodynamic and poised to offer superior ride, handling and drivability. The new Swift also gets a lot of safety technology as part of standard equipment including dual airbags, ABS with EBD and the ISOFIX Child restraint system.
