Rahul says he, his sister have 'completely forgiven' father's killers

After Rahul Gandhi's elevation as party president, Congress's rival and country's ruling party BJP has been criticising Congress for being a party of "one family".

Bharatiya Janata Party or BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Monday claimed that Rahul Gandhi forgiving his father Rajiv Gandhi's killers raises suspicion of "supari" killing or a plotted murder for financial gains.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi said today that if he was the prime minister of India he would have thrown the proposal to demonetise high-value currency notes into the "dustbin". "But, somehow, completely.in fact, completely (forgiven)", PTI quoted him as saying.

"When one realises that when these events take place, its collision of ideas, forces, confusion".

"When I saw on TV (Tamil Tigers chief Velupillai) Prabhakaran lying dead, I got two feelings - first was why they are humiliating this man in this way". So to me when I see violence regardless of who it is, I know that there is a human being behind that, there is a family behind that, a kid crying behind that. I literally find it hard to hate people, even my sister does.

Former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by a female suicide bomber of LTTE, the terrorist group in Sri Lanka led by Prabhakaran, on 21 May, 1991 at an election rally in Tamil Nadu.

Strongly criticising demonetisation, Rahul said, "if I was the Prime Minister and somebody would have given me a file with demonetisation written on it, I would have thrown it in the dustbin, out of the door and into the junkyard". "We knew that my father was going to die". After that my father was killed. I fail to understand why we should be lenient towards someone who collaborated with foreigners to kill our former Prime Minister. The Congress shared his video of speaking on the issue and captioned it as: " Congress President Rahul Gandhi tells us how he would have rolled out #Demonetisation better. I think there is a bias in all societies, including in western society and that bias needs to be corrected.
