Hit-and-run confrontation caught on camera in Miami

Oleg Maxwell Lagutenko, 25, is accused of crossing a median into oncoming traffic and hitting another vehicle. Although the crash involved several vehicles, no injuries were reported, Miami police said. A man gets out of a white van with a sledgehammer and proceeds to smash in the windows of the SUV, the video shows.

The wild incident began at Northwest 36th Street when the driver of a silver Infiniti SUV weaved around a auto that was stopped at a traffic signal and wound up crashing into several other vehicles, WPLG-Ch.

The hit-and-run driver in this video, captured on the scene of a crash in downtown Miami, got a lot more than he bargained for.

"That's insane. You know, you have a crash, you stop", witness Anthony Jimenez said.

Cellphone video taken after those crashes showed multiple drivers getting out of their cars and trying to stop Lagutenko from leaving.

But cops warned others not to repeat the actions of the vigilante drivers who ganged up on the SUV should they find themselves in a similar situation, and dial 911 instead. "You have a crash, you stop".

"That's insane. You know, you have a crash, you stop", witness Anthony Jimenez said.

The driver eventually pulled away again.

Lagutenko was charged with reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident causing property damage, and fleeing and eluding a police officer.

Police said Lagutenko appeared to be under the influence of drugs when he was stopped. They urge people to call police with a description of the vehicle.
