Presumably that means Ken Levine won't be involved in the project, as he's now working on an original project at his new 2K-backed studio Ghost Story Games. Apparently, in that time, Hangar 13 has been figuring out what its next project following Mafia III should be, but the studio is in a very different place right now.
Buried within a lengthy Kotaku story on the current less-than-ideal state of things at Mafia 3 developer Hangar 13 is an interesting tidbit about another 2K game you may have heard of. However, considering the game's story it's hard to see where the franchise will go.
"Next door", the report reads, "a small group of people were working on a project code-named Parkside, quietly recruiting from across the video game industry for a game so secret, they wouldn't even tell their colleagues at Hangar 13 about it". But, the game came out in 2013 and many are wondering 'what's next?' That's according to a recent report on Mafia III, in which a new BioShock game is mentioned in passing. Different iterations of the engine have been used for every BioShock game released so far, whether it be from the now rebranded Irrational Games or 2K Marin.
Whether this studio is the same one working on the next BioShock at the moment is not known. Since Infinite, there hasn't been talk of a new game, which makes this the first murmurs that 2K has got something up their sleeves.
