Manchester United 2-1 Leicester City: Five things we learned

United had several chances to extend its lead against a Leicester side that called goalkeeper David De Gea into action more often than Mourinho would have liked.

United have denied that happened, while it was also reported that Mino Raiola, the player's agent, had even struck a deal with Barcelona - the kind of interest that the club have vowed to reject.

Paul Pogba assumed the responsibility of captain handed to him by Jose Mourinho to help Manchester United get off to a winning start in the Premier League with a 2-1 win over Leicester City on Friday.

"What do you mean being the real Pogba?"

The crowd went wild as players surrounded the World Cup victor, but one fan, who was named after the great George Best was celebrating more than most. "That's all I say". A player that gets chosen and is happy, you always feel more comfortable than when he's not happy.

"If you're doing it for money, there's a point about doing things for money, but there's a point about doing things because you love it".

"There are things and there are things that I can not say otherwise I will get fined", Pogba said before walking off.

United starts the season just like it started the match: perfectly.

So far there's no word as to who would fill this role, or when they would be appointed.

"I don't remember in my career to be in so much in trouble to make my changes because I wanted to make five or six and I could only make three".

"I know that Paul doesn't resist for 90, the same with Fred".

The midfielder, a World Cup victor with France, has been the subject of speculation in recent days concerning both a possible transfer to Barcelona and his relationship with manager Jose Mourinho.

The 22-year-old attacker is among those to have been available for the Red Devils throughout the summer having missed the World Cup.

Asked about the differences between playing for France and playing for United, Pogba said: "I am the same, but it's a different team, obviously".

Daniel Amartey has set an infamous record in the 2018-19 Premier League by emerging as the first player to give away a penalty, the first player to be shown the yellow card and the first to be substituted.

He said: "I always give my best for the fans, for the teammates and for the people that trust me".

Liverpool have splashed the cash in hope of catching City this time out, with Jurgen Klopp spending around £175m in the window.

He was, however, happy to describe why it clicked with France at the World Cup under Didier Deschamps, where Pogba was filmed in the dressing room rallying his team-mates.
