‘Nobody even told me’: Recording reveals Trump’s confusion on Omarosa’s firing

Trump has already branded "Omarosa" - as she is commonly known - a "lowlife" after she released a recording of her firing, seemingly recorded in the White House Situation Room.

Newman also said it was the only meeting she had with Kelly during her time at the White House.

On Sunday, the White House fired back at Omarosa Manigault Newman's secret recording of John Kelly with a statement from Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. What I can tell you is, the thought of doing something like that to a fellow employee, not to mention, the leader of the free world is completely disgraceful, ' he said.

The recordings came out as Omarosa promotes her new book "Unhinged, ' where she turns on her former boss and 'Apprentice" host. During her brief tenure at the White House, she served, per Reuters, as assistant to the president and as director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison. The conversation she had with the president, the conversation I had with the president, John Kelly, these are all private, ' he said. Manigault Newman evades the questions by asking Americans to "read the book", and things get awkward when Guthrie says the particular allegation isn't in the book.

The president himself called his former aide a "lowlife" on Sunday when asked about her by pool reporters. "I'm saying it right now: Release it so that the American people can see that I worked my butt off to make a difference in this country and they were working for ways to frame me".

While the latest recording appears to show Trump was unaware of the firing, Manigault Newman said on "Today" that Trump may have instructed Kelly to do it, but she offered no evidence.

"No. I don't think he's fit", she said. It's clearly not that important and she herself has said she recorded these men has an insurance policy, which should spur a healthy skepticism from those fanning the flames on her narrative.

"I$3 heard for two years that it (the tape) existed, and once I heard it for myself, it was confirmed, what I feared the most: That Donald Trump is a con and has been masquerading as someone who is actually open to engaging with diverse communities", she said. He says: "Nobody even told me about it".

NBC News did not know what was said before or after that short exchange.

He lashed out further at his former friend in a series of angry tweets, as he prepares to return to the White House after an 11 day vacation. He could not go into specifics about why she was sacked or how she was able to get a recording device in the room. They needed her to speak up during the campaign when her familiarity with the candidate could have made her a more credible source than his other high-profile black surrogates, many of whom did not have meaningful relationships with Trump before his campaign launched.
