RIP iPhone: Apple discontinues its flagships

In one of the company's signature launch events at its headquarters in Cupertino, California Wednesday, Apple CEO Tim Cook unveiled the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, the most advanced iPhones ever.

The iPhone X was unveiled only past year and it went on sale in November 2017.

From the look of things, the iPhone11,8 identifier appears to be the iPhone XR because it sports 3GB of RAM and previous rumors have also stated that the LCD-based version of the 2018 family will have 1GB of memory less than the remaining two models.

This is the new iPhone for "regular folks" who don't see their iPhone as a status symbol or sweat details like a stainless steel body or 512GB of storage for photos and videos. "iPhone X would hurt product brand value & lineup of 2H18 new models if it continues to sell at a lower price after 2H18 new models launch", he wrote in a research note, according to MacRumors. The iPhone XR surprisingly includes numerous same capabilities as the iPhone XS, with the most significant differences being the LCD display and a single-lens camera system. But remember, Apple used LCD screens up until last year's iPhone X, so longtime fans shouldn't feel the need to rebel.

The first one is about the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR and showcases all the important features of the handsets - displays, cameras and design.

The new iPhone XR's release date is pencilled in for September 21, with pre-orders going live on September 14. Apple gave us cryptic guidance like "it lasts 90 minutes longer than the iPhone 8 Plus".

You can find more information about Apple's iPhone keynote 2018, including information about the Apple Watch Series 4, in the stories below.

They come in gold, silver, and space gray. With the iPhone XR, which comes in yellow, coral, blue and red as well as black and white, the color is already baked into the phone (but you'll probably want a clear case for your glass-backed phone anyway).

This has led to the iPhone XR being variously described as "cheap", "entry-level", or the "budget" iPhone for this year.
